Deep Within is a self portrait of dissonance the distance between what is seen and what is lived. A face appears like a mask, composed and legible, while the true weather of feeling gathers below the surface, unspoken yet insistent.
The work invites the gaze to descend: beneath contour and likeness, into the strata where emotion hides in shadowed color and slow light. What cannot be told is still present; what is not shown is still felt. Deep Within is a call to look under the skin of looking.
Through acrylic and oil, the image holds its double life exterior poise, interior tide. The surface steadies; the depths move. Between them, the self comes into focus and slips away at once.
