CANON EOS R6 + RF 24-105MM

EOS R6 – mirrorless speed

The EOS R6 offers numerous technologies that are otherwise only found in our flagship DSLR, the EOS 1D X Mark III. The large-format pixels of the 20.1 megapixel CMOS sensor provide an ideal balance between resolution, low-light characteristics and dynamic range. Whether it's portraits, landscapes, wildlife or travel, the EOS R6 delivers stunning image quality at up to 20 frames per second with Servo AF.

In addition to photos in excellent quality, the EOS R6 also produces extraordinary videos. You can record video in 4K at 60 fps or in Full HD at 120 fps - all with continuous focus tracking thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF. The camera's advanced technologies enable shots with an extended dynamic range and beautiful colors.

The standard zoom lens RF 24-105mm F4-7.7 IS STM offers a great introduction to photography as a compact all-rounder.

In addition, there is a coordinated stabilization with this lens, i.e. an interaction between the optical stabilizer in the lens and the sensor stabilization of the EOS R6, which allows image stabilization according to CIPA standard up to 8 aperture steps! So an ideal combination for entry or if it should be light.

The RF Bayonet

The RF lens bayonet, which with its large diameter of 54 mm and a support size of only 20 mm allows an optical design, which was previously considered impossible.

In addition, the RF bayonet transmits data between the lens and the camera ten times faster than an EF lens mount. This allows for faster autofocus. The new intelligent image stabilization offers a new level of camera-internal image processing - with technologies such as our Digital Lens Optimizer (DLO) to maximize image quality by optimizing lens performance.

Dual Pixel AF II

With its advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus, the EOS R6 can detect moving subjects more reliably than any mirrorless camera before. The sharpness is exactly where it is needed and you can be sure that the EOS R6 works professionally when you shoot.

The camera's autofocus, supported by the DIGIC X processor, uses algorithms developed with the help of a deep learning AI to detect and track a person's eyes, face, head or body. People are also sharply focused in the profile or when only one eye is visible. And when your subject turns away for a moment—for example, when shooting fast sports—EOS R6 continues to follow your head or body, so your face is instantly sharp when it's visible again.

When photographing sports where players suddenly turn around - such as football or hockey - or wear helmets that cover a part of the face, the ability to track elements such as the body and head, not just faces, is crucial.

The technology of the EOS R6 even extends this to cats, dogs and birds - making focus tracking for wildlife shots much easier.

The camera's Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system is so sensitive that it can focus measured with the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM in just up to 0.05 seconds and can work with RF lenses with aperture F1.2 even at low light levels at a brightness of up to -6.5 EV, which roughly corresponds to the moonlight in the first quarter. The EOS R6 is the first EOS with this high sensitivity.

The behavior of the AI Servo autofocus can be adjusted by manual fine adjustment. In this way, the camera can be optimally adapted for the different types of action photography.

In the default setting, the EOS R6 now also offers an automatic that adapts to the movement to be photographed - which is also ideal for the beginning.

The EOS R6's autofocus range can be used individually, in zones, or together as a single focus area with up to 6,072 selectable positions. In addition, the spot AF has been added, which allows extreme precision with a very small AF point.

With a joystick that can be moved in all directions, the active AF field or the zone in the field of view can be moved. The sensitivity of this control, which you can easily operate even when your eye is on the viewfinder, can be adjusted to your personal preferences in three steps.

Alternatively, the camera's touchscreen can be used to set the position of the active focus point, just tap or drag when shooting in Live View mode or by using Touch and Drag technology when working with the camera's viewfinder.

Our updated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system enables smooth and reliable continuous focusing in all shooting modes. It also features face and eye detection, which is ideal for video recording of dynamic subjects. The system can also detect cats, dogs and birds and easily track them in the frame and always keep them in focus.

It is also easy to shift the sharpness range from one location to another – along with the viewer's attention. Simply tap the camera's touchscreen (or the screen of a connected mobile device) and the camera gently refocuses, allowing you to set the speed in the menu.

The EOS R6 also offers the Zebra display: stripe patterns that are displayed on the display to warn when an object or area approaches a certain level of brightness and may become overexposed. The brightness level at which the warning is triggered can be set in the main menu of the EOS R6.

The EOS R6 offers the possibility to shoot with Canon Log 1 to get details in particularly light and dark areas of the image in high-contrast shooting situations.

The EOS R6 now supports the H.265 codec in addition to the more traditional H.264. This enables 10-bit 4:2:2 recordings for excellent image quality, which can be recorded either internally to the SD memory cards or externally via a micro HDMI output to a recorder.

Powerful image stabilization for completely new shooting possibilities

The Canon EOS R6 has a 5-axis camera-internal stabilization of the sensor, which compensates for a slight shake of the camera, regardless of the lens used, when working without a tripod. The stabilizer compensates for horizontal or vertical displacement as well as rolling, yaw and tilting – all EF and RF lenses benefit from this new 5-axis correction.

If you use an RF lens with an optical image stabilizer, the camera combines the internal IS with that of the lens at lightning speed, which leads to coordinated stabilization with an advantage of up to 8 exposure levels. This is possible thanks to the large diameter of the RF bayonet and because the sensor inside the EOS R6 can move more within the image circle generated by the lens, even with certain RF lenses without optical IS.

The special feature of the R6

The camera can be controlled wirelessly via WLAN with the Camera Connect app via smartphone and tablet. The camera is compatible with Canon RF lenses and the separately available EF-EOS R bayonet adapter with existing EF and EF-S lenses.

Many of the relevant features that make this camera, such as continuous shooting speed, AF servo performance, sensor stabilization and 4K at 120p, it has together with the EOS 1D X Mark III or the R5. However, the compromise you think you have to make with 20.1 megapixels is rewarded with an image quality that, thanks to the latest sensor technology, has a richness of detail of approx. 26 megapixels!
